Valerie McInroy is owner and instructor at Play Out Loud Music Studio, where she teaches private, partner, and group piano classes to students of all ages. She started playing the piano at age 7, and began her teaching career while still in high school, mentored by her instructor. She quickly realized this was her calling, and she continued to further her music education to reflect that goal, continuing her music study at the University of Northern Iowa. Valerie also maintains her credentials as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, having received her professional certification from the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) in 2005.
Valerie has devoted almost her entire life to the study of music and the art of teaching. Why? Her answer is simple: I love learning, and my joy in learning is increased when I have the opportunity to share what I learn with others. The heart of my teaching philosophy is built on the belief that all students are valuable human beings, and all students have the ability to be musical.
Valerie continually works to expand her knowledge and experience through research, attending music teacher conferences and online webinars, and practicing her favorite instrument – the piano!
In addition, she is married and the mother of two teens. She loves coffee, dogs, and long walks on the beach. When not teaching or playing the piano, she can often be found curled up with a good mystery novel.
